90 POINTS!!!
Rough-hewn, dense, abundant and chewy, with concentrated, extracted dried currant, mineral and hefty oak and mineral flavors that make this broad-shouldered, framed by potent tannins. Needs lots of time. Best from 2009 through 2018. 1,066 cases made
96 POINTS!!! Only 2 bottles in stock.
Loads of ripe currants, licorice and toasted oak on the nose. Subtle yet impressive. Full-bodied, with a solid core of ripe fruit and chewy tannins. Big and juicy. Deep midpalate for a 2002. This is the wine of the vintage. A solid, classic Latour that needs bottle age. Best after 2012.

Wine Spectator "Wine of the vintage and the greatest Château Margaux ever produced. A stunning red. The essence of raspberry, violet and berry, with hints of vanilla and toasted oak. Full-bodied and thick, yet racy, with masses of tannins and a harmonious structure. Long, long finish. Best after 2005. 18,000 cases made." (JS) Score: 100.
98 Rating from The Wine Specatator. Breathtaking in its richness and power, yet balanced against a lacy web of acidity that keeps the sticky, syrupy textures from going over the top. Flavors of apricot, baked apple, dried pineapple and tropical fruit last and last. Drink now through 2020. 100 cases made.
97 POINTS!!!
Planted in the early 1930's, the vineyard is about 70 years old. This vineyard is planted with the old clones of Syrah (low yielding) on their own roots, dry grown and yields about two tons to the acre.
The soils here are mainly clay, ironstone and gravel facing due east and fairly steep. The vineyard usually ripens early due to the low yields and extensive root systems of these old vines.
The grapes are handpicked and fermented with natural yeasts in open stainless steel tanks at temperatures up to 32 degree Celsius. All the pressings are returned to the 100% new French oak barrels and the maturation lasts for 18 months before bottling without fining or filtration.
95 POINTS!!!
Planted in the Onkaparinga Valley in the Clarendon Hills area, this wine is always very peppery and spicy with nuances of Leather and minerals. A most individual wine - always very deeply coloured and with abundant tannin.
93 POINTS!!!
A black, sexy beast, the 2004 Syrah Brookman (aged in 50% new French oak) offers up amazingly full-bodied, intense, blackberry fruit intermixed with notions of roasted coffee, flowers, and creme de cassis. Full-bodied, rich, beautifully textured, opulent, and long, it should drink well for 10-15 years. It appears to be slightly more forward than it was last year.
92 POINTS!!!
Wine Advocate ReviewThe 2004 Syrah Bakers Gully, reveals rich, ripe, round, sweet cherry and blackberry aromas and flavors with notions of tar and licorice in the
background. Made in a supple, forward, precocious style, it is best drunk over the next 5-6 years.
92 POINTS!!!
The 2004 Moritz Syrah highlights the quality of the fruit that is produced from thirty-one year old vines, planted on a soil of ironstone. Dense dark purple in color the wine exhibits aromas of blueberry, black currants, cassis and game. On the palate, the wine is a mouthful of plums, blueberries, cured meat; finishing rich, silky and round. It comes across as a blend of Cornas and Hermitage.
93 POINTS!!!
Shows bright, almost floral aromas, with plum and cherry undertones. Full-bodied, with a solid core of ripe fruit, silky tannins and a long, bright aftertaste of citrus and berry. Tight and structured. Still needs time. Best after 2010. 1,050 cases made.
