The initial cool minerality of the 2006 Muller-Catoir Haardter Herrenletter Riesling Spätlese is deceptive. This wine is complex, transforming to high-pitched flavors of blackberry, malt, tarragon and white peach on its vibrant, slightly sweet palate.

A fluid, open Riesling, with bright acidity framing apple, peach and nectarine flavors. Hints of vanilla and mineral round out the spectrum as this resonates across the palate. Builds to a nice finish. Best from 2010 through 2027. 500 cases made. –BS
