Boutari Retsina, the traditional wine from Greece that masterfully combines pine resin with the finesse of the Saviatiano (white) variety, comes in its own distinct package. To prevent wine from seeping through the skin and stitching, the inside of the bag was lined with pine resin, which also lightly flavored the wine. The Greeks acclimated to it – after the wine bottle was developed, they continued to add pine resin to their wine.
