The brilliant Cabernet Sauvignon, by winemaker John Gibson, boasts a deep ruby/purple color as well as an elegant perfume of black currants, licorice, cedar, and subtle toasty oak. It is medium to full-bodied with sweet tannin, and a long, elegant finish. It should drink beautifully for 15 or more years.
This is the debut vintage of this wine, making this the ideal time to begin a vertical in your cellar. The wine is produced by Rob McDonald, who founded Old Bridge Cellar Imports, the house that brought d’Arenberg, Jasper Hill, Cullen, Penley Estate and other iconic Australian wines to the U.S. market. The wine is dry-grown, naturally farmed and has great intensity. Decant for a few hours or cellar this beauty. 190 cases produced.
Mingo Tempranillo has voluptuous scents of ripe black fruit infused with a seductive blend of sweet spice and musky, earthy grilled meat aromas. It’s full and on the palate with loads of juicy red fruit flavors and velvety tannins that exude warmth and generosity.
Mingo offers distinctive flavors while still delivering traditional structure and style. Mingo Valencia Red is a rich dry red that shows typical Spanish elegance with ripe berry aromas and flavors.
Nessa Albarino has a pale gold and just slightly effervescent, it has a very aromatic nose (as one expects from Albariño) filled with apples, limeaid, fennel and carnations.
Complex flavors of sweet white cherries and crunchy applemeat are the first things you taste, then on the midpalate, all of a sudden, a blast of lime zest, and spice blend to make your mouth water. This wine cries out for fresh just caught seafood simply prepared and preferably served to good friends.
The highest quality of a ripe-harvested red wine from Spain made from the classic Tempranillo grape, often with Cabernet Sauvignon and with plenty of wood ageing. Accessible, rich, good complexity, pretty powerful yet fairly easy to drink. Lots of fruit, plenty of wood tannins, but smooth ones, and sometimes a hint of vanilla from ageing in American oak. Young: spicy fruit, clear hint of wood ageing. Ready to drink: spicy and supple. Mature: vanilla and mature fruit overtones.
Dark, full red. Raspberry, blackberry, graphite, violet, licorice, game and sexy oak tones of smoke and baking spices on the nose. Supple and sweet if a bit youthfully aggressive, with intense dark berry and coffee flavors complicated by spicy oak and a wild gamey nuance. Boasts very good palate presence and finishes with substantial tongue-clenching tannins and very good length.
True to the flavors of this vineyard, the 2005 Syrah shows smokey cherry and wild plum aromas, with a touch of dried lavender and nutmeg. On the palate, the wine shows its ripe concentration yet retains an overall impression of elegance, with a soft, polished texture at the finish.
