Mollydooker Carnival Of Love Shiraz 2014 750 ml

Wine number 2 for the 2014 Top 100 Wines from The Wine Spectator.
Founders Sparky and Sarah Marquis aim for a crowd-pleasing house style that emphasizes bold flavors, plush texture and something they call “fruit weight”—how far back on the tongue the flavors extend before you notice the wine’s structure. This red consists of a barrel selection of some of the top Shiraz from Gateway Vineyard and finishes its fermentation in 100 percent new American oak barrels. This is Mollydooker’s sixth appearance in the Top 100, and the third time Carnival of Love has made the Top 10.

Claredon Hills Astralis Syrah 2004 750 ml

97 POINTS!!!
Planted in the early 1930's, the vineyard is about 70 years old. This vineyard is planted with the old clones of Syrah (low yielding) on their own roots, dry grown and yields about two tons to the acre.
The soils here are mainly clay, ironstone and gravel facing due east and fairly steep. The vineyard usually ripens early due to the low yields and extensive root systems of these old vines.
The grapes are handpicked and fermented with natural yeasts in open stainless steel tanks at temperatures up to 32 degree Celsius. All the pressings are returned to the 100% new French oak barrels and the maturation lasts for 18 months before bottling without fining or filtration.

Our price: $319.99
