Shows beautiful, subtle aromas of blackberry, strawberry and flowers, with coffee. Full and very silky, with lots of fruit and ultrafine tannins. This is balanced and reserved. Beautiful. Best after 2011. 460 cases made.

Cesari Amarone 750 ml

Some ripe cherry, berry and tobacco forms a tight bead on the medium palate. But this is a bit subdued and linear overall. Drink now. 7,500 cases made.

Bolla Amarone 750 ml

The floral, nutty nose blends with raisin on the full- to medium-bodied palate, with firm tannins and rather simple, spicy fruit character that fails to prolong the finish. A bare-bones Amarone. Drink now. 16,000 cases made.

Our price: $54.99
Gaja Ca' Marcanda Promis 750 ml

Light garnet color. Bright and fruity with a jammy nose. A delightful wine that combines the elegance and suppleness of Merlot and Syrah with the austerity of Sangiovese. Balanced, almost musical, its a pleasure to drink from an early age and also has an aging potential of 5-8 years.

Gaja Sito Moresco 750 ml

If you love wines from Italy’s Piemonte region, you probably already know Angelo Gaja. In the 1980s, as his top wines became more expensive and harder to find, Gaja decided to create a less expensive, earlier drinking, bottling to make it easier for wine lovers to get to know the estate style. He made the wine – Sito Moresco – as a blend of Nebbiolo (the classic grape of Barbaresco) and softer, plumper, Cabernet and Merlot. A year or so in mostly new oak barrels soften the wine and gave it a touch of Gaja “flash.”

Our price: $69.99
Tommasi Amarone 750 ml

Deep garnet with a slight brown tint at the rim, the nose is a classic core of raisin with surrounding aromas of dried cherry, fig, some raspberry and shoe polish. In the mouth there are layers of flavor combining plum, cherry, tar, heavy raisin and a bit of old leather. Opens up nicely after decanting. Not the benchmark for Amarone but a good wine nonetheless.
